Supporting Promoting Engineering to Young People

The UK government has announced that 2018 will be the Year of Engineering, a national campaign to increase awareness and understanding of what engineers do among young people aged 7-16, their parents and their teachers.  This is part of a year-long campaign to tackle the engineering skills gap and widen the pool of young people who join the profession.

Engineering skill and knowledge is the foundation of our Magnet and Magnetic Assembly business.  There is no doubt that for the future of engineering in the UK we need more young people pursuing a career as an engineer.

Magnets and magnetic assemblies are fundamental to our everyday life.  Magnets are critical components in mobile phones, computers and even wind turbines.

We work with the strongest permanent magnet materials available including Neodymium Rare Earth Magnets.

At Bunting, we have a design team of engineers who work closely with customers to develop bespoke magnets, magnetic assemblies, and magnetisers.  Some of our projects include:

• Magnets for high performance magnetic couplings;
• A Rare Earth Magnetic Assembly for the Emergency Brake of an Offshore Winch;
• Tiny magnets for confidential projects;
• Specialist magnetisers to charge magnets or magnetic components;

Our customers never stop amazing us with their requirements, pushing our engineering and manufacturing capabilities to the limit.

The Bunting Magnet engineering team, based at Berkhamsted in the UK, are designing special Magnet Assemblies and Magnets for customers every day.  It is exciting and challenging, designing magnet based solutions for a myriad of applications.

Last year, a local Scout Group visited our facility.  We wanted to illustrate how a life in engineering would never be boring and they all left with excited smiles on their faces.
